In the late 1870s, the Loretto Chapel was nearly completed… the final project was a staircase needed to ascend from the sanctuary to the choir balcony… many carpenters were contacted, but none had a solution for this small space to build a staircase 20 feet tall. The nuns prayed, releasing their faith that there would have to be a way, and believing that they would receive a solution…

A knock at the door… a mysterious man with a donkey, loaded down with carpentry tools… He said he was there to build a staircase. The nuns were elated with joy and gave thanks and praise for answered prayer.

The man built one of the finest staircases ever to be built… a 20 foot tall double spiral, made of wood, with no nails or glue, all press fit together (see second image) … a marvel that few could construct with todays modern tools and computer drafting capabilities…

Once completed, it is said that he was gone, without being paid, without a word.

In more recent times, the wood has been analyzed… and it is said to be of a type of spruce that is not native to the area, and more mysteriously, of completely unknown origin. There is no other source of such wood known on the planet.

It is said that walking up and down these steps, one is overwhelmed with faith, joy, hope, a sense of higher awareness of the Divine… talking each step as a miracle, as an answer to the Nuns’ prayers over a century ago.

This talisman has been enchanted to be a portal unto the double spiral staircase of the Loretto Chapel, also known as the Miracle Steps.

Anytime you need a miracle in your life, an important prayer answered or Divine guidance, understanding, wisdom… spend time near this enchantment, and allow the Essence and Energy of this Miraculous Site flow unto, upon and within thee.

This talisman has been a part of my spiritual journey for many years, and now I feel it’s time to allow another to attain the etheric and esoteric greatness that it provides.
